Once more Whitehaven was blooming marvellous again as the town was festooned with flowers in its annual attempt at horticultural honours.
The centre point of the town's efforts was the St. Nicholas gardens which was a riot of colour.
A splendid set piece was the sailing ship at the corner of Roper Street and Irish Street. The hull of the ship was made from flowers and behind it a lighthouse and two more planters in the shape of small boats completed the scene.
Instead of a mural outside the Dunboyne Hall this year there was a series of screens depicting Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz fronted by large tubs of flowers.
More planters along the side of the Civic Hall transformed the plain concrete and railings into a bright and colourful scene.
The display outside the Marchon Club at the top of Coach Road went further than just decoration by advertising the Council's drive towards recycling.
Hanging baskets decorated many of the town centre businesses as well as many private residences.
Also much of the Street furniture was decorated including the lamp posts on King Street.
