Whitehaven

Charles Street

Charles Street no longer exists. It used to run between George Street and High Street roughly mid-way between Scotch Street and Queen Street. It was bisected by Peter Street below which on the South side was a small Baptist Meeting house and Watson's Court and across the road on the North side was Gibson's Court. In the early 19th century there were 4 other chapels within 150m of this Baptist place of worship as well as the large church on High Street.

Since terraced housing was replaced by more modern apartments the road no longer exists but its path can still be seen on the map as the gap between the blocks of flats.
