It was great to see the excitement in the faces of these youngsters from the Stagestars dancers as the carnival procession got underway on its journey from New Road around the Whitehaven's town centre and back along Lowther street to Castle Park.
Starkey's infants sparkled with a little help from the sunshine in these very colourful dresses and the Celtic steppers brought some traditional Irish dance to the parade.
Starkey's various dance troupes also won 2nd and 3rd prizes in this section.
Cowper's school of dance has always been an essential part of Whitehaven Carnival and this year they had some very colourful 70's style flower-power costumes - seen here as the procession rounded the corner from Strand Street into Lowther Street where they performed in front of the judges.
Some of the older dancers from the Stage Stars had these fluorescent costumes which helped them stand out as they paraded through town.
Another large dance troupe was Popsteps all dressed in black and pink.
