Whitehaven Preston Street 2007

Aldi and Iceland at Preston Street Whitehaven

Where the Preston Street Goods Depot once stood has now been replaced by Aldi and Iceland food stores. You can see from the roof of Aldi in the photo above that it was recently extended. Originally a large railway shed stood here with several sidings and at one time the line even extended through the market place to the harbour.

Where the railway entered the marshalling yard, behind the Old Auction mart, is the Focus do-it-yourself store. The line of the railway is now used as part of the C2C cycle route.
